What this drive is and what it powers
The ATV1200A21005555 is a Schneider Electric Altivar 1200 medium-voltage AC drive rated for 1756 kW motor power at 2100 kVA apparent power, supplied from a 2970–3630 V three-phase line. It drives both asynchronous and synchronous motors, making it suitable for large pumps, compressors, conveyors, and fans in heavy industrial processes.
Input topology and fault handling
The 30-pulse diode rectifier bridge input reduces line harmonics below IEEE 519 thresholds without an external filter — the integrated EMC filter is already on board. Prospective line short-circuit current withstand is 31.5 kA for 150 ms, and dielectric strength between earth and power terminals is 20 kV AC — the drive can ride through a bolted fault on the input bus without self-destructing. Ground fault protection is built into the drive output stage, so a phase-to-ground fault on the motor cable trips the drive without relying on upstream protection.
Overload capability and cooling
Standard overload rating: 1.2 In for 60 s and 1.5 In for 3 s. High overload rating: 1.5 In for 60 s and 1.85 In for 3 s — the high-overload profile covers heavy starting duty cycles like crushers or extruders. Forced convection cooling moves 23,100 m³/h of air through the enclosure; the noise level at full fan speed is 80 dB, so ear protection is mandatory near the drive.
Physical footprint and enclosure
The drive ships in a floor-standing enclosure with separate air flows for the transformer and power cells. Standard-efficiency variant: 4660 mm wide × 1600 mm deep × 2670 mm high. High-efficiency variant: 4960 mm wide × 1700 mm deep × 2670 mm high. The enclosure is grey (RAL 7032) and must be installed vertically within ±10° of plumb.
Control wiring and I/O
Four software-configurable analogue inputs (0–20 mA / 4–20 mA, 24 V max, 250 Ω impedance) and two analogue outputs (same range). Six discrete inputs standard, expandable to ten. Control power requires an external 220 V AC supply at 3 kVA; the cooling fan runs on 380 V AC. Electrical isolation between power and control circuits is maintained per EN/IEC 61800-5-1.
