Physical scale and installation footprint
The ATV1200A85506363: The enclosure has separate air flows for the power section and control compartment, with forced convection cooling moving 100,000 m³/h of air. The operating position is vertical ±10 degrees. Ambient conditions: 0–90 % relative humidity (0–95 % optional), altitude up to 2000 m with 0.6 % derating per 100 m above 1000 m.
Power rating and motor duty
Rated for 6571 kW motor power at 7860 kVA apparent power, drawing 720 A line current from a 2970–3630 V supply. The output voltage is equal to or less than the supply voltage. This drive is intended for large asynchronous motors — think induced-draft fans, boiler feed pumps, or mainline conveyor drives in heavy industry. Overload capability is defined in four tiers: 1.2× rated current (In) for 60 s standard duty, 1.5× In for 3 s standard, 1.5× In for 60 s high overload, and 1.85× In for 3 s high overload. The standard overload profile suits variable-torque loads like centrifugal pumps and fans; the high overload profile covers constant-torque loads such as conveyors or extruders that need higher starting torque.
Input topology and harmonic mitigation
The 36-pulse diode rectifier bridge input inherently cancels the 5th, 7th, 11th, 13th, 17th, and 19th harmonics, keeping total harmonic current distortion (THID) below 5 % at full load without external filters. This meets IEEE 519 requirements for the point of common coupling without additional line reactors or active filters — a significant advantage for installations where utility-imposed harmonic limits are tight. The integrated EMC filter and electrical isolation between power and control circuits further simplify compliance with EN/IEC 61800-3 (emission and immunity for adjustable-speed drives) and EN/IEC 61800-5-1 (safety requirements). The drive carries CE marking.
Protection, isolation, and fault handling
Ground fault protection is integral to the drive. Dielectric strength is 20 kV AC between earth and power terminals. The drive is rated for overvoltage category II per EN/IEC 61800-5-1 and pollution degree 2. Prospective short-circuit current withstand is 31.5 kA for 150 ms — this sets the minimum SCCR for the upstream protective device. Vibration resistance is 4.9 m/s² over 10–50 Hz. Noise level is 80 dB — hearing protection is required within the enclosure vicinity during operation.
Control interface and I/O complement
Four software-configurable analogue inputs accept 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA current signals, 24 V max, 250 Ω impedance. Two analogue outputs are similarly configurable for 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA DC. Six discrete inputs are standard, expandable to ten. The external control supply is 220 V AC, 3 kVA, with an optional 220 V AC/DC supply. Cooling fans draw 380 V AC from an internal supply.
