Drive architecture and power stage
The ATV1200A88406060 is a medium-voltage AC drive rated for 7390 kW motor power, supplied from a 2970–3630 V input rail through a 30-pulse diode rectifier bridge. The 30-pulse topology cancels low-order harmonics at the input, reducing the need for external harmonic filtering on the line side. The drive is assembled in a floor-standing enclosure with separate air flows for the power cells and the phase-shifting transformer. Internal composition includes 15 power cells, medium-voltage arrestors, cooling fans, and a human-machine interface. Apparent power rating is 8840 kVA; line current is 850 A. Prospective short-circuit current withstand is 31.5 kA for 150 ms, which sets the fault-clearing requirement for the upstream protection.
Overload capability and protection
Standard overload profile: 1.2 × In for 60 s or 1.5 × In for 3 s. High overload profile: 1.5 × In for 60 s or 1.85 × In for 3 s. The drive includes integrated ground-fault protection and electrical isolation between power and control circuits. Dielectric strength between earth and power terminals is 20 kV AC. Overvoltage category II per EN/IEC 61800-5-1, pollution degree 2.
Physical footprint and installation constraints
Dimensions: 3040 mm high × 8970 mm wide × 1700 mm deep. The enclosure is grey (RAL 7032) and must be installed vertically within ±10° of true vertical. Cooling is forced convection with 90,000 m³/h airflow. Noise level is 80 dB. Ambient relative humidity range is 0–90 % (0–95 % optional). Electrical connection uses M10 bar-type screw terminals with clamping capacity for 6 × 40 mm² conductors, entry from bottom or top. An integrated EMC filter is included.
