Altivar 212 drive for HVAC and pumping
The ATV212HD11N4 is a 11 kW variable speed drive from the Altivar 212 range, designed for 3-phase 380-480 V supply. It delivers 17.1 kVA apparent power at 380 V and draws 21.1 A line current at 380 V or 16.8 A at 480 V. An integrated class C2 EMC filter is built in, covering conducted emissions for most European installations without an external filter. The drive complies with IEC 61800-3 environments 1 and 2 across categories C1, C2, and C3, and carries CE marking.
Dimensions, mounting, and airflow
The drive measures 6.7 in deep, 7.09 in wide, and 9.1 in high (170 x 180 x 232 mm). It mounts vertically within ±10°, with a heat sink on the rear for thermal dissipation. Forced airflow is rated at 147 m³/h (38834 gal/h US). Operating altitude is 1000 m without derating; above that, derate 1 % per 100 m up to 3000 m, with a 2000 m limit for corner-grounded distribution networks. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1 applies.
Protection and control features
The drive includes an adjustable PI regulator for closed-loop process control, with speed accuracy of ±10 % of nominal slip from 0.2 Tn to Tn and torque accuracy of ±15 %. Speed range is 1 to 10. Protection covers overheating, short-circuit between motor phases, overcurrent between output phases and earth, DC bus overvoltage, input phase loss, motor thermal protection, and PTC probe input. A red LED signals DC bus energized. Analog inputs are switch-configurable: VIA accepts 0-10 V DC or 0-20 mA (10-bit, 30 kΩ voltage, 250 Ω current); VIB accepts 0-10 V DC or PTC probe (0-6 probes, 1500 Ω).
Communication and compliance
The drive is equipped with a 2-wire RS-485 physical interface using RTU protocol at 9600 or 19200 bps, with an RJ45 connector. An optional LonWorks communication card is available.
