22 kW VFD with integrated C2 EMC filter
The ATV212HD22N4LCD is a 22 kW (30 hp) AC drive from the Altivar 212 series, designed for asynchronous motors in commercial and light industrial applications. It delivers 33.1 A at 480 V and 41.6 A at 380 V, with an integrated Class C2 EMC filter that meets EN 61800-3 Category C2 and C3 environments — meaning it can be installed in first-environment (residential) locations with a filter, and second-environment (industrial) without additional filtering. The drive includes a built-in adjustable PI regulator for closed-loop process control (pressure, flow, temperature) and a full suite of protections: thermal overload, short-circuit between motor phases, input phase loss, DC bus overvoltage/undervoltage, and motor PTC probe input.
Communication and I/O for panel integration
Standard Modbus RTU over a 2-wire RS-485 bus (RJ45 connector) at 9600 or 19200 bps, RTU frame format, supporting up to 247 addresses — drop it onto a Modbus network with minimal configuration. The drive also accepts a LonWorks option card for building automation networks. Analog inputs are switch-configurable for voltage (0–10 V DC) or current (0–20 mA), with 10-bit resolution; one input can also accept PTC probes for motor thermal protection. The digital I/O and relay outputs handle start/stop, fault reset, and speed reference selection without an extra PLC module.
Mounting and environmental limits
The drive measures 240 mm wide x 420 mm high x 214 mm deep, with a vertical mounting tolerance of ±10 degrees. It requires 100 mm clearance above and below for airflow — the integrated fan moves 214 m³/h, and the noise level is 59.9 dB. Operating altitude is up to 1000 m without derating; above that, derate 1% per 100 m up to 3000 m (limited to 2000 m for corner-grounded networks). Rated for pollution degree 3 (IEC 61800-5-1) and 5–95% relative humidity without condensation. Shock resistance is 15 gn for 11 ms per IEC 60068-2-27 — suitable for machine-mounted installations with moderate vibration.
