What this drive delivers on a 480 V line
The ATV212WD15N4 is an Altivar 212 AC drive rated for 15 kW output on a 3-phase 480 V supply — sized for asynchronous motors in pump, fan, and conveyor duty where the load profile stays within the drive's constant-torque curve. Line current at 480 V is 22.6 A; at 380 V it draws 28.4 A, so the upstream protection and cable sizing follow the higher figure when the supply is on the low side of the tolerance band.
Regulatory and installation fit
The integrated Class C2 EMC filter covers most industrial power-distribution layouts without an external filter. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1 and a 15 gn / 11 ms shock rating per IEC 60068-2-27 mean it handles the vibration and contamination levels typical of a panel-mounted drive near a motor or gearbox.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
The lifecycle stage is marked as mature — this is not a new-introduction or end-of-life flag, but it means the drive has been in the field long enough that spares and replacements are stable through distribution. No official successor order code is recorded.
Protection and control depth
Built-in protections cover overheating, short-circuit between motor phases, input phase loss, overcurrent between output phases and earth, DC-bus overvoltage, and motor thermal protection with PTC probe support — the drive can shut down on a winding overtemperature without an external relay. An adjustable PI regulator is onboard for closed-loop process control — pressure, flow, or level loops can be tuned directly in the drive without a separate controller. The analogue input stage is switch-configurable between voltage (0–10 V DC) and current (0–20 mA) with 10-bit resolution, and one input can serve as a PTC probe interface for motor temperature feedback.
