Drive rating and motor match
The ATV212WD30N4 is a 30 kW Altivar 212 drive, drawing 44.7 A line current at 480 V and 56.7 A at 380 V — the 480 V figure governs the upstream breaker and cable sizing for a 480 V installation. It is designed for asynchronous motors and includes an integrated Class C2 EMC filter, which meets the conducted emission limits for industrial environments under IEC 61800-3 category C2 without an external filter.
Panel fit and mounting constraints
The drive measures 28.3 in (720 mm) high by 11.2 in (284 mm) wide by 12.4 in (315 mm) deep — the height is the dimension that typically drives enclosure depth clearance when mounted vertically within ±10°. For corner-grounded distribution networks, the altitude is further limited to 2000 m.
Protection and communication
The drive includes a full suite of built-in protections: overcurrent, short-circuit between motor phases, input phase loss, DC bus overvoltage/undervoltage, motor thermal protection, and PTC probe input for direct motor winding temperature monitoring. Serial communication is via 2-wire RS-485 with Modbus RTU protocol at 9600 or 19200 bps, supporting up to 247 addresses on the bus. The two analog inputs are switch-configurable for voltage (0-10 V DC) or current (0-20 mA), with one input also configurable for PTC probes.
