The Schneider Altivar Process ATV6A0C40Q4 is a modular variable speed drive rated for 400 kW normal duty and 315 kW heavy duty at 400 V three-phase, drawing 681 A line current in ND and 545 A in HD. The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 with up to 300 m of motor cable, saving an external filter. Safety function STO (Safe Torque Off) is built in at SIL 3, eliminating the need for a separate safety relay for torque-off on the motor. Slot A accepts communication modules for Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, or CANopen (daisy chain RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals). Slot A and slot B also accept digital/analog I/O extension or output relay extension modules, giving flexibility for application-specific I/O without a separate remote rack.

Power and Ratings

Apparent power is 472 kVA at 400 V normal duty and 378 kVA at 400 V heavy duty. Output voltage is limited to the supply voltage (no boost), and the drive covers 50-60 Hz supply with ±5% tolerance. For installations above 1000 m altitude, derate current by 1% per 100 m up to 4800 m. Line supply harmonics: maximum THDI is <48% full load per IEC 61000-3-12, reducing the need for external line reactors in many applications. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1, suitable for typical control panel environments.

Communications and Control

Embedded Ethernet/Modbus TCP slave with half/full duplex and auto-negotiation at 10/100 Mbit/s. Modbus serial on 2-wire RS-485 at 4.8-38.4 kbit/s, RTU format, with configurable parity.
