The ATV6A0C40R4: The heavy-duty rating (315 kW / 501 A) is the one you size against for constant-torque loads like conveyors or extruders; the normal-duty figure (400 kW / 623 A) applies for variable-torque pumps and fans. The drive carries STO (Safe Torque Off) to SIL 3, which means it can serve as the safety disconnecting means in a SIL 3 loop without an external safety contactor — a panel-space and wiring savings if your safety architecture requires that integrity level.
This is a current-production drive. No last-time-buy or end-of-life window to manage. The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 with up to 300 m of motor cable, so you can skip an external filter for most installations within that cable length.
Control supply and I/O detail
The control section needs an external 24 V DC supply (19...30 V) for the digital inputs, plus an internal 24 V DC rail (21...27 V) for the STO inputs and general control logic, rated at <200 mA with overload and short-circuit protection. There is also a 10.5 V DC reference output for a 1 to 10 kOhm potentiometer. The six digital inputs (DI1...DI6) are programmable; DI5 and DI6 can serve as pulse inputs up to 30 kHz. Analog inputs AI1, AI2, AI3 are software-configurable for 0...10 V or 0/4...20 mA with 12-bit resolution.
Communication options
Slot A accepts fieldbus option cards: Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, or CANopen (daisy chain RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals). Slot A and slot B can also take digital/analog I/O extension or output relay extension modules. The drive ships with a Modbus serial port (2-wire RS 485, RTU frame) and a Modbus TCP/Ethernet port (10/100 Mbit/s, half/full duplex, auto-negotiation).
The drive carries CE marking and is designed to IEC 61800-3 (EMC), IEC 61800-5-1 (safety), IEC 61000-3-12 (harmonic), IEC 60721-3 (environmental), IEC 61508, and IEC 13849-1 (functional safety). Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1.
