The ATV6A0C50T4 is a modular Altivar Process ATV600 drive, rated 500 kW at 480 V normal duty and 400 kW heavy duty, with a corresponding motor rating of 700 hp normal / 600 hp heavy. The drive ships as a kit — separate control unit, power module, mounting brackets, and a set of fuses — so your panel layout needs to account for the physical split, not a single monoblock.
Power and supply considerations
Line current at 480 V sits at 736 A normal duty, 634 A heavy duty. The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 — that's for industrial second-environment installations; no additional external filter needed for standard industrial mains. Control power requires a separate 24 V DC supply: digital inputs accept 19–30 V, STO circuit runs on 21–27 V, and there's an internal 10.5 V DC for a reference potentiometer. The control supply is protected at <200 mA with overload and short-circuit protection built in. Plan on a dedicated 24 V DC supply sized for the full logic load, not just the STO current.
Cabinet-mount only, forced convection cooling. Pollution degree 2 per IEC 61800-5-1, which means non-conductive dust and occasional condensation — no aggressive chemical exposure expected. Shock rated to 7 gn, 11 ms. Operating humidity 5–95 % non-condensing.
Safety and compliance
Safe Torque Off (STO) with SIL 3, wired to STOA/STOB on 24 V DC supply. CE marked, compliant with IEC 61800-3, IEC 61800-5-1, IEC 61000-3-12, IEC 60721-3, and IEC 13849-1.
