The Schneider ATV6B0M10T6 is a modular Altivar Process ATV600 drive rated 1000 hp at 600 V normal duty and 800 hp at 600 V heavy duty, drawing 785 A line current in normal duty and 628 A in heavy duty. It handles both synchronous and asynchronous motors, with an output voltage up to supply voltage.
The 785 A normal-duty line current sets the incoming cable and fuse sizing; the 628 A heavy-duty figure governs the same for the tougher profile. Apparent power is 815 kVA at 600 V normal duty and 652 kVA at 600 V heavy duty, which gives the transformer or generator sizing anchor. The prospective line short-circuit current rating is 50 kA, so the upstream protection must coordinate at that level. Switching frequency is adjustable from 2 to 4.9 kHz with derating — higher frequencies reduce motor audible noise but derate the output current. For a furnace fan or kiln exhaust, 2 kHz is typical; for a quieter environment, 4 kHz is common but expect a current reduction. The integrated EMC filter meets IEC 61800-3 category C3 for a 300 m motor cable, covering most industrial installations without an external filter. For longer cable runs or stricter emissions limits (category C2), an external output filter may be needed.
Safety and compliance
The drive also includes thermal protection, motor phase break detection, overcurrent between output phases and earth, short-circuit protection, DC bus overvoltage, line undervoltage, line phase loss, and overspeed detection — all listed as built-in protection types. Standards compliance covers IEC 61800-3 (EMC), IEC 61800-5-1 (safety), IEC 61000-3-12 (harmonic limits), IEC 60721-3 (environmental), and UL 61800-5-1 (US listing).
Fieldbus and control integration
The drive has two option card slots (Slot A and Slot B) for communication modules: Profibus DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP/EtherNet/IP, CANopen (daisy chain RJ45, SUB-D 9, or screw terminals), plus digital/analog I/O extension and output relay extension modules. Onboard Ethernet supports Modbus TCP at 10/100 Mbit/s with half/full duplex and autonegotiation; Modbus serial runs at 4.8 to 38.4 kbit/s on a 2-wire RS-485 bus with RTU framing, addressing 1 to 247 slaves. The control terminal block uses removable screw terminals for 0.5 to 1.5 mm² (AWG 20 to 16). Line-side connection is screw terminal; motor connection uses M10 bars.
Cabinet-mount only, with UL Type 1 and Type 12 ratings for cabinet integration. Forced-convection cooling. Operating altitude up to 2000 m with current derating above 1000 m; relative humidity 5 to 95% without condensation; vibration resistance 1.5 mm peak-to-peak at 2–13 Hz and 0.5 gn at 13–200 Hz; shock resistance 4 gn for 11 ms.
