The Schneider Electric C10B42D100 is a ComPacT NSX100B 4-pole circuit breaker with a 100 A rating at 40 °C, fitted with a MicroLogic 2.2 electronic trip unit. It delivers 25 kA Icu at 415 V AC, 50/60 Hz per IEC 60947-2 — the standard for low-voltage industrial power circuit breakers. The breaker sits in the ComPacT NSX family, a widely deployed platform for panelboard and switchboard applications.
MicroLogic 2.2 trip unit and protection curves
The electronic MicroLogic 2.2 trip unit provides three protection functions: L (long-time overload), So (short-time short-circuit with fixed delay), and I (instantaneous short-circuit). So protection with a fixed delay allows selective coordination with downstream breakers, provided the delay is set longer than the downstream clearing time. The I setting clears hard faults instantaneously. This is a Category A breaker (per IEC 60947-2), meaning it is not specifically intended for selectivity under short-circuit conditions with other Category A breakers — coordination study is recommended.
Breaking capacity across voltage levels
The breaking capacity varies with system voltage: 40 kA Icu at 220/240 V AC, 25 kA at 380/415 V AC, 20 kA at 440 V AC, and 15 kA at 500 V AC. At 480 V (common in North American 277/480 V systems), the 440 V rating applies — 20 kA Icu — which covers typical available fault currents in commercial and light industrial distribution.
Physical integration and mounting
Mounts on a backplate in either horizontal or vertical orientation, flat on the back. The 4-pole form factor with neutral on the left occupies four 35 mm pitch module spaces. Front connections (both upside and downside) simplify busbar wiring in a panel.
