The Schneider Electric C160H360FM is a ComPacT NS new generation 3-pole fixed-mount circuit breaker with a MicroLogic 6.0 electronic trip unit rated at 1600 A at 50 °C. The breaker is part of the ComPacT NS630b…1600 new generation range. Breaking capacity is 85 kA Icu at 220/240 V AC, 70 kA Icu at 380/415 V AC, 65 kA Icu at 440 V AC, 50 kA Icu at 500/525 V AC, and 42 kA Icu at 660/690 V AC — all at 50/60 Hz per IEC 60947-2. The MicroLogic 6.0 trip unit provides L (long-time overload), S (short-time short-circuit), I (instantaneous short-circuit), and G (ground-fault) protection curves — all electronic, adjustable. The thermal memory is 20 minutes, so the trip unit remembers prior heating events and shortens the time-to-trip on a reclose, which matters for motor or transformer inrush that can follow a fast reclosure. Power losses are 74 W at rated current — that heat has to leave the enclosure. The breaker is IP40 (finger-safe, no water ingress) and IK07 (2 J impact resistance), so it is suited for indoor switchboard or panel mounting on a backplate. Front connections top and bottom, 70 mm phase pitch, so it fits standard busbar and cable layouts.
Integration and deployment
Mounting is fixed on a backplate — no DIN-rail adapter, so plan for a drilled or tapped panel. Dimensions are 327 mm high × 210 mm wide × 147 mm deep, which is a standard ComPacT NS footprint. The 70 mm phase pitch matches the existing busbar systems in most LV switchboards. Front connections top and bottom simplify busbar routing and cable glanding. Local signalling uses four red LEDs for fault indication (one each for L, S, I, G trip events) and one yellow LED for overload pre-alarm — useful for a technician walking the panel to identify which protection curve caused the trip without plugging in a laptop. Relative humidity range is 0–95 %. These environmental ratings mean it is fit for industrial switchrooms, not just climate-controlled data centres.
