The C160N42EFM is a 4-pole fixed-mount ComPacT NS new generation MCCB from Schneider Electric, rated 1600 A at 50 °C with an electronic MicroLogic 2.0 E trip unit that provides overload (L) and instantaneous short-circuit (I) protection. Its 85 kA Icu at 240 V AC and 50 kA at 415 V AC (per IEC 60947-2) means it can interrupt high fault currents without upstream cascading — a key spec for distribution panels where available fault current is high. The LCD display and energy-metering measurement type let you track load data directly at the breaker, which saves a panel builder from adding a separate power meter.
Trip unit and protection logic
The MicroLogic 2.0 E is an electronic trip unit with a 20-minute thermal memory — after a trip, it remembers the heat history so re-closing too soon doesn't cause nuisance tripping on a still-hot breaker. That matters on motor or transformer feeders where the load might re-energise while the internal temperature is still elevated. Protection is L (long-time overload) and I (instantaneous short-circuit); no short-time or ground-fault curve here, so it's suited for distribution rather than selective coordination downstream.
Mechanical and electrical endurance
Rated for 10,000 mechanical cycles and 1,000 electrical cycles at full rated current (690 V), with higher counts at reduced loads — 2,000 cycles at In/2 and 5,000 cycles at 440 V In/2. That's typical for a fixed-mount distribution breaker; it's not a switching device for frequent motor starts, but it handles routine isolation and fault clearing without wearing out early.
Fixed mount on a backplate, front-connected top and bottom, with a 70 mm connection pitch.
