The C40R36E400 is a Schneider Electric ComPacT NSX400R moulded-case circuit breaker (MCCB) from the ComPacT NSX family, rated 400 A at 40 °C with a MicroLogic 6.3 E electronic trip unit. It's a 3-pole, 50/60 Hz device built to EN/IEC 60947-2, which governs low-voltage switchgear and controlgear — the standard that defines breaking capacity, utilisation category, and coordination requirements for industrial distribution. At 690 V AC it holds 45 kA Icu. The MicroLogic 6.3 E trip unit provides L (long-time overload), S (short-time short-circuit), I (instantaneous), and G (ground-fault) protection curves — all adjustable. The electronic trip gives you thermal memory that remembers the last 20 minutes of heating before and after a trip, so reclose-and-trip cycles don't let the cable overheat. It also includes an energy meter and communicates maintenance indicators, demand values, power quality data, and time-stamped event logs. Mechanical durability is 15,000 cycles; electrical durability runs 12,000 cycles at 440 V at half rated current, 6,000 at full rated current — enough for a main breaker in a distribution panel that sees infrequent switching. IP40 and IK07 give it basic indoor panel protection against solid objects and 2 J impact.
The 140 mm width, 255 mm height, and 110 mm depth fit a standard MCCB cutout in a backplate-mounted panel. Toggle control with an LCD display on the trip unit gives local status and settings visibility without opening the door.
