What this basic frame is and what it needs
The C63F3 is a ComPacT NSX630F basic frame — a 3-pole, 630 A molded-case switch housing with no trip unit fitted. You select and install a separate trip unit (electronic or thermal-magnetic) to define the protection curve. The frame carries a 36 kA Icu at 415 VAC and an 85 kA breaking capacity at 240 VAC per UL 508, so it handles high-fault service-entrance or distribution positions where the trip unit is specified later.
At 240 VAC the frame clears 85 kA (UL 508); at 480 VAC it clears 35 kA (UL 508); at 600 VAC it clears 20 kA (UL 508). Under IEC 60947-2 the Icu values are 40 kA at 220/240 VAC, 36 kA at 380/415 VAC, 30 kA at 440 VAC, 25 kA at 500 VAC, 20 kA at 525 VAC, and 10 kA at 660/690 VAC.
The frame mounts fixed to a backplate (not DIN rail). Connection pitch is 45 mm. Both line and load connections are front-access, which simplifies busbar or cable routing in a panel where the breaker is mounted in a row. The front face carries Class II electrical shock protection, so no additional insulation cover is required on the operator side. IP40 enclosure protection keeps out tools and small debris; IK07 impact resistance handles incidental contact during panel work.
The C63F3 is designed and certified to EN/IEC 60947-2 (low-voltage switchgear and controlgear) and UL 60947-4-1 (contactors and motor-starters). Overvoltage category III suits fixed-installation distribution boards. The manufacturer provides the standard declaration of conformity and UL recognition documentation with the shipment.
