Product details

The ENW15563 is a microprocessor-based Trip System 5.0 control unit for the Schneider Electric EasyPact NW range of air circuit breakers. It's rated for standard industrial applications on AC networks at 50/60 Hz, with a trip unit rating spanning 630 to 6300 A and a rated operational voltage of 690 V AC conforming to IEC 60947-2. The failure mode this unit addresses is the protection coordination of a large industrial feeder. The LSI protection profile — long-time (L), short-time (S), and instantaneous (I) — means you can shape the trip curve to the load's inrush and the downstream branch's fault-clearing capability. The thermal memory function prevents reclosure into a still-hot conductor, which is the kind of detail that matters when you're coordinating a multi-level distribution system and don't want nuisance trips on a reclose after a transient fault.

Protection curve and adjustability

The long-time pickup (Ir) is adjustable across 10 settings from 0.4 to 1.0 x In, with a corresponding long-time delay (Tr) adjustable from 0.5 to 24 seconds at 6 x Ir, accuracy 0 to -20%. This gives you the granularity to match the thermal curve of a large motor or a transformer-fed load without oversizing the breaker frame. Short-time pickup (Isd) adjusts across 10 settings from 1.5 to 10 x Ir, with a delay (Tsd) from 100 to 600 ms. The instantaneous pickup (Ii) also has 10 settings, ranging from 2 to 15 x In. That range on the instantaneous band — up to 15x In — is what lets you ride through the inrush of a fully loaded transformer bank while still clearing a bolted fault within one cycle.

Physical integration and mounting

The unit measures 200 mm high, 58 mm wide, and 77 mm deep. It mounts via a fixed drawout mechanism — the control unit slides into the breaker cradle without removing the breaker from the switchgear. The neutral position is on the left side of the assembly. Protected poles can be configured as 3D (three poles protected), 3D + N/2 (three poles plus half-rated neutral), or 4D (four poles protected), with neutral protection settings selectable as Without protection, 0.5 x Ir, or 1 x Ir.
