Switch disconnector for distribution, 1250 A AC-23A
The Schneider Electric ENW24175 is a fixed-mount switch disconnector from the EasyPact NW range, rated 1250 A in AC-23A utilisation category at 690 V AC — meaning it handles the high inrush of motor loads or mixed resistive-inductive circuits on distribution boards, not just resistive heating banks. The 3-pole unit is designed for isolation duty (IEC 60947-3 certified) with a visible contact position indicator, so it doubles as a service-disconnect for downstream maintenance without relying on a separate lockout device. Rated insulation voltage sits at 1000 V AC, with a 12 kV impulse withstand — this covers 690 V line-to-line systems plus the transient spikes from nearby lightning or capacitor bank switching. The short-time withstand current is 50 kA for 1 second (25 kA for 3 seconds), and the making capacity reaches 105 kA peak at 50/60 Hz, which defines its fault-closing capability for coordination studies on high-fault panels. The IP40 enclosure keeps tools and fingers out but is not washdown-rated; it expects a cabinet or panel cover for outdoor installation.
Mounting and connection
Fixed base-plate mounting, rear connection. The 422 mm width by 352 mm height by 297 mm depth footprint needs a panel backplate sized to clear the rear terminals and allow a 115 mm connection pitch without spreader bars. Horizontal or vertical cable entry is possible, but all terminations are rear-access — plan gland-plate layout accordingly.
Electrical endurance is 6000 cycles at 440 V AC-23A and 4000 cycles at 690 V AC-23A without maintenance. Mechanical durability is 20000 cycles with maintenance, 10000 without. For a distribution disconnect that sees infrequent operation (a few times a week), that is a long service life; for a machine disconnect cycled multiple times per shift, derate or consider a contactor-based solution.
