The ENW24238 is a 4-pole EasyPact NW air circuit breaker rated 1000 A at 40 °C — that's the continuous current it carries without derating in a 40 °C ambient. At 690 V the Icu drops to 42 kA, which still covers most industrial distribution secondaries. The Ics (service breaking capacity) matches the Icu at both voltage levels — so you get full rated breaking capacity on reclose, not a derated service rating. That matters for selectivity studies where you need the downstream breaker to clear before the upstream trips.
Mounting and integration — fixed base plate, rear connections
Fixed mounting on a base plate, not a DIN rail — this is a drawout-style frame that bolts into a switchboard cubicle. Rear connection terminals with a 115 mm pitch without spreader, horizontal or vertical orientation. The footprint is 537 mm wide by 352 mm high by 297 mm deep, so plan the gland plate and busbar clearance accordingly. Pollution degree 4 per IEC 60664-1 means it's rated for continuous conductive contamination (dust, condensation) — typical in cement plants, steel mills, or outdoor substations where a standard IP2X breaker wouldn't hold up. IP40 enclosure keeps tools and fingers out but isn't washdown-rated.
Standards and approvals — IEC 60947-2, isolation suitability
Built and tested to IEC 60947-2 for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear. Rated insulation voltage 1000 V AC, impulse withstand 12 kV. Mechanical durability 20,000 cycles with maintenance, 10,000 without. Electrical durability at 440 V is 6,000 cycles Category B without maintenance.
