Switch disconnector for distribution — 1250 A, drawout, isolation-rated
The ENW24279 is a Schneider Electric EasyPact NW switch disconnector rated for 1250 A in AC-23A duty at 690 V AC, 50/60 Hz. That AC-23A utilisation category means it handles switching of mixed motor and resistive loads — not just isolation — with an electrical durability of 6000 cycles at 440 V and 4000 cycles at 690 V without maintenance, per IEC 60947-3. Four-pole configuration with neutral on the right, drawout mounting on a rail, and rear connection terminals on a 115 mm pitch without spreader. The drawout mechanism lets you rack the disconnector out for maintenance or replacement without disturbing the power wiring — a time-saver in panel retrofits. Rated for isolation per IEC 60947-3 — the contact position indicator gives visual confirmation of open/closed state, which matters for lockout/tagout procedures.
Fault-handling and duty ratings
Short-time withstand current (Icw) is 66 kA for 1 second, or 36 kA for 3 seconds, at ambient temperatures from -5 to 70 °C. That 66 kA/1 s rating tells you the disconnector can ride through a bolted fault long enough for an upstream breaker to clear — critical for selective coordination studies. Rated short-circuit making capacity (Icm) is 143 kA peak at 50/60 Hz. Mechanical durability is 20,000 cycles with maintenance or 10,000 cycles without maintenance per IEC 60947-3. The continuous duty rating means it's designed for uninterrupted current-carrying at the full 1250 A — not just occasional switching.
IP40 protection — suitable for indoor switchgear enclosures where tools and fingers are the main ingress concern, not washdown or outdoor exposure. Breaking capacity code HA and the 143 kA making capacity mean this is the high-amperage variant in the EasyPact NW range — sized for main incoming or heavy feeder duty, not branch-circuit sub-feeders.
