What the 2500 A and 65 kA ratings mean for your distribution board
The EVS25H3MW60 is a 3-pole drawout air circuit breaker from the Schneider Electric EasyPact EVS range, rated 2500 A continuous at 40 °C with a 65 kA Icu breaking capacity at 220...440 V AC. The 2500 A frame is sized for large distribution transformers or heavy industrial feeders; the drawout design lets you rack the breaker out for maintenance without disturbing the bus connections.
Trip system and protection profile
The EVS Trip System6.0 electronic trip unit provides overload (long-time), instantaneous short-circuit, short-time short-circuit, and earth-fault protection. The 20-minute thermal memory means the trip curve accounts for prior heating — if a motor starts twice in quick succession, the breaker remembers the first start and trips sooner on the second, preventing cumulative overheating of downstream cables. Category B utilisation means the breaker is designed for selectivity with downstream devices: it can hold a short-time delay to let a feeder breaker clear first, then trip itself if the fault persists. The 25 ms maximum break time is fast enough to limit let-through energy.
Mounting and integration into a switchboard
Drawout mounting on a rail base plate with rear vertical or horizontal connections. The 115 mm connection pitch without spreader matches standard bus-bar centres for a 2500 A frame. IP40 protection is typical for indoor switchgear — no special washdown rating, so keep it in a clean, dry enclosure. The 441 mm width, 439 mm height, and 395 mm depth fit standard low-voltage switchgear cubicle compartments.
