50 A motor circuit breaker with 50 kA interrupting capacity
The GV4PE50B6: The trip unit uses an electronic thermal-magnetic hybrid, which means the thermal curve handles overload protection with a programmable-like response while the magnetic element catches short-circuit events at 850 A magnetic tripping current. The electronic side also enables phase failure sensitivity per IEC 60947-4-1 — a feature that drops the breaker when one phase is lost, preventing single-phasing damage on a motor load.
Motor power coverage and load matching
At 400–415 V AC, the GV4PE50B6 covers motor ratings from 11 kW up to 22 kW depending on the voltage tap. At 500 V it handles 15–30 kW, and at 660–690 V it spans 18.5–45 kW. That's a wide power band for a single frame size — the 50 A setting lets you dial in the exact motor FLA within the adjustable range of the TeSys Deca platform. Mechanical durability is 40,000 cycles. The maximum operating rate is 25 cycles per hour — relevant for frequent start-stop applications like conveyors or pump cycling.
Panel fit and environmental ratings
Dimensions are 6.1 x 3.2 x 4.6 inches (155 x 81 x 116 mm). The connection pitch is 27 mm without spreaders, expanding to 35 mm with spreaders — the spreaders give extra clearance for larger cable lugs in a crowded enclosure. Terminal capacity accepts 1.5–95 mm² wire. IK07 impact resistance covers accidental tool drops.
Certification and compliance coverage
That covers the three major regional approval frameworks — UL for North America, CSA for Canada, and IEC/EN for global and European markets. Fire resistance is tested to 960 °C per IEC 60695-2-11.
