80 A motor circuit breaker for 37 kW at 400 V
The GV4PEM80S: It combines motor protection and isolation in one DIN-rail-mounted device, replacing a separate breaker and contactor in many panel layouts. At 480Y/277 V UL rating drops to 65 kA, still covering most industrial service entrances.
Trip unit and motor protection logic
Dual-technology trip: thermal-magnetic for overload and short-circuit, plus an electronic module for phase-failure sensitivity per IEC 60947-4-1. Magnetic trip threshold is fixed at 1360 A — 17× In — meaning it clears bolted faults fast but won't nuisance-trip on motor inrush. Rated for continuous duty (IEC 60947-4-1) and utilisation category AC-3, so it's built for starting and stopping squirrel-cage motors under load. Electrical durability is 14,000 cycles at AC-3 440 V at In/2, and 7,000 cycles at full In — plan spares for high-cycle applications. Mechanical life is 40,000 cycles, with a max operating rate of 25 cycles/hour. The toggle control gives positive manual on/off and trip indication — no auxiliary power needed for the isolation function.
Footprint is 81 mm wide × 155 mm high × 116 mm deep — fits a standard 3-module DIN-rail slot. IP40 enclosure with IK07 impact resistance; fine for inside a panel but not for washdown zones. EverLink BTR screw terminals on top accept 1.5...70 mm² solid or 1.5...50 mm² flexible; bottom terminals take 2.5...95 mm² solid or 2.5...70 mm² flexible. Tightening torque is 9 N·m for the main power terminals, 5 N·m for the control wiring — use a torque screwdriver; the EverLink clamp is sensitive to over-torque. Power dissipation is 4.6 W per pole — 13.8 W total at rated current. Factor this into the panel thermal budget; in a sealed enclosure with multiple breakers, the heat adds up.
Suitable for isolation per IEC 60947-1 — no need for a separate disconnect. Sourced to order against BOM quantities through independent distribution.
