1600 A AC-1 Contactor — What This Rating Means
The Schneider Electric LC1F7804P7 is a TeSys F 4-pole contactor rated 1600 A in AC-1 utilisation category at ≤ 440 V, meaning it is sized for switching resistive heating loads, lighting banks, or transformer primaries — not motor starts. The AC-1 rating governs the continuous current the main poles carry without derating; for motor duty (AC-3), the same contactor would be rated significantly lower. The 4 NO power pole configuration gives four normally-open main contacts, all rated for the full 1600 A. The 230 VAC control coil draws 2100 VA inrush at pickup, dropping to 50 VA hold-in — the inrush surge matters for control transformer sizing in the panel.
Mounting and Integration — Plate-Mount, Not DIN Rail
Mounting support is plate — this contactor does not snap onto a DIN rail. The footprint is substantial: 862 mm wide, 434 mm high, 255 mm deep. Power circuit connections use bolted busbars rated for 100 x 5 mm cross-section; control circuit connections are screw clamp terminals accepting 1 to 4 mm² flexible or solid wire. Tightening torque for power circuit connections is 58 N.m, control circuit 1.2 N.m.
Designed and certified to IEC 60947-4-1, EN 60947-4-1, and JIS C8201-4-1. Rated insulation voltage (Ui) is 1000 V per IEC 60947-4-1, 1500 V per VDE 0110 Group C. Impulse withstand voltage (Uimp) is 8 kV, overvoltage category III. The protective treatment is TH for tropicalized environments — suitable for humid or corrosive atmospheres when panel conditions are controlled.
