What this breaker is
The LV846176 is a Schneider Electric MasterPact MTZ2 drawout circuit breaker, 3-pole, rated 3200 A at 40 °C. It's the H2V performance variant, meaning 100 kA Icu/Ics at 440 V AC — that's the short-circuit rating that governs fault clearance in a main or tie breaker position. Category B selectivity (per IEC 60947-2) means it holds coordination downstream without nuisance tripping on transient faults, which is the difference between a momentary sag and a full plant blackout in a selective-coordination study.
Icu of 100 kA at 440 V AC is the ultimate breaking capacity — the breaker clears one fault at that level and must be replaced afterward. Ics is the same 100 kA at 440 V, meaning service breaking capacity equals ultimate: after clearing a fault at full rating, the breaker stays operational. That's unusual at this current level; most designs trade Ics at 50-75% of Icu. Icw (short-time withstand) is 100 kA for 1 second, which supports delayed-tripping coordination with downstream feeders. Icm (making capacity) is 220 kA at 440 V — the peak let-through the breaker must close into without welding contacts.
Integration notes
Drawout mounting on rails or base plate, with front and rear connection options top and bottom. Connection pitch is 115 mm. The breaker itself is 441 mm wide, 439 mm high, 403 mm deep — verify the cell dimensions in your switchgear against the drawout cradle envelope. IP30 enclosure protection; pollution degree 3 per IEC 60947-1, which is the standard industrial environment with conductive pollution. No control unit included (ordered separately), so factor in the Micrologic trip unit for the BOM.
