MasterPact MTZ2 1600 A — selectivity and breaking capacity for main distribution
The Schneider Electric LV846213 is a MasterPact MTZ2 drawout circuit breaker rated 1600 A at 40 °C, 4 poles, with a H2V performance type delivering 100 kA breaking capacity at 415 V AC. This places it in the Category B selectivity class per EN/IEC 60947-2, meaning it's designed for main incoming or large feeder duty where full discrimination with downstream breakers is required — a line-down event on a fault clears the branch, not the main. The making capacity (Icm) at 440 V AC is 220 kA, which is the peak let-through the breaker must close onto and hold under fault.
Drawout mounting and connection flexibility
Drawout mounting means the breaker chassis stays wired to the bus while the moving portion can be racked out for maintenance or swap — no need to disconnect power cables. Both upside and downside connections accept front or rear termination, which simplifies bus-bar routing in switchgear lineups. The connection pitch is 115 mm, and the mounting support accommodates rails or a base plate. Physical envelope: 556 mm wide × 439 mm high × 403 mm deep. Neutral is on the right.
Durability and environmental ratings
Electrical durability is 10,000 cycles at rated current at 440 V AC per EN/IEC 60947-2 (AC-23A), and 6,000 cycles per EN/IEC 60947-3 (AC-3). Mechanical durability is 15,000 cycles with periodic preventive maintenance. IP30 protection is typical for enclosed switchgear — the enclosure provides the higher IP rating. Operating altitude is 0 to 2000 m without derating, 2000 to 5000 m with derating.
