MasterPact MTZ2 2500 A — what this breaker delivers
The Schneider Electric LV846215 is a MasterPact MTZ2 drawout circuit breaker rated 2500 A at 40 °C, 4 poles, with H2V performance class delivering 100 kA breaking capacity at 415 V AC. It's built for main incoming or large feeder protection in power distribution — the kind of install where selectivity and fault clearance speed decide uptime. Category B selectivity means it coordinates with downstream breakers to isolate only the faulted branch, keeping the rest of the plant live. The 25 ms maximum break time and 220 kA making capacity tell you it handles high-energy faults without cascading upstream — critical for switchboard integrity. Rated insulation voltage is 1000 V AC, operational voltage 440 V AC, with impulse withstand at 12 kV. The short-time withstand rating (Icw) holds 100 kA for 1 second — enough for full-selectivity schemes with downstream breakers clearing in their own time band.
Drawout mounting and panel integration
Drawout chassis means the breaker slides out for inspection or replacement without disturbing the bus connections — a standard requirement for main breakers in industrial switchgear. Mounting support is rails or base plate; connection pitch is 115 mm. Dimensions: 556 mm wide, 439 mm high, 403 mm deep. That depth matters when you're laying out the cabinet — make sure the drawout rail has clearance for the full travel. IP30 protection is typical for indoor switchgear; no special sealing for washdown environments. Neutral position is right.
Operating altitude 0–2000 m without derating, 2000–5000 m with derating. Ambient temperature range: -25 to 70 °C operating, -40 to 85 °C storage. Power dissipation at rated current is 600 W — factor that into the switchgear ventilation calculation.
