The LV848355 is a Schneider Electric MasterPact MTZ3 drawout circuit breaker, rated 4000 A at 40 °C, with H2 performance class delivering 150 kA breaking capacity at 415 V AC. It is a Category B breaker per EN/IEC 60947-2, meaning it provides selectivity (discrimination) with downstream devices — the upstream breaker stays closed during a downstream fault, keeping the rest of the bus live. The 4-pole configuration with rear connection on both sides suits it for main incoming or bus-tie positions in switchboards where cable access is from the rear. Rated operational voltage is 690 V AC 50/60 Hz, with insulation voltage rated at 1000 V AC and impulse withstand of 12 kV. Service breaking capacity (Ics) matches Icu at 150 kA up to 440 V, then derates to 130 kA at 525 V and 100 kA at 690 V.
At 690 V the Ics drops to 100 kA, still high enough for most industrial secondary-distribution applications. The making capacity (Icm) is 330 kA at 415 V, confirming the breaker can close onto a bolted fault without welding contacts. For a site engineer running a coordination study: the Icw of 100 kA for 1 s (also 100 kA for 3 s) gives headroom for delayed tripping on downstream faults, allowing the breaker nearest the fault to clear first.
Physical integration — what fits where
Drawout mounting means the breaker mechanism slides into a fixed chassis. With chassis, the depth is 403 mm, width 1016 mm, height 479 mm. Without chassis, the breaker itself is 300 mm deep, 838 mm wide, 300 mm tall. The connection pitch is 230 mm. Rear connection on both sides (upside and downside) means the bus bars or cables terminate at the back of the chassis — plan for rear-accessible cable entry in the switchboard. The breaker is supplied without a control unit, so you will need to specify the Micrologic trip unit separately.
IP30 protection — not for washdown areas. Altitude rating: 0–2000 m no derating, 2000–5000 m with derating. Standards compliance includes EN/IEC 60947-1, -2, Annex H (for selectivity), and IEC 61557-12 (for power metering).
