MasterPact MTZ2 3200 A — the 4-pole drawout frame for high-current distribution
The Schneider Electric LV848439 is a MasterPact MTZ2 drawout circuit breaker, 4-pole, rated 3200 A at 40 °C with H2 performance class delivering 100 kA breaking capacity at 415 V AC. This is the drawout version — the breaker unit withdraws from the chassis for safe inspection and replacement without disturbing line or load connections. The chassis adds 103 mm to the depth (403 mm with chassis vs 300 mm without) and 63 mm to the width (556 mm vs 493 mm).
Breaking performance and coordination headroom
Service breaking capacity (Ics) holds 100 kA at 440 V AC, 85 kA at 690 V AC — that's full Icu at 415 V and still 85% at 690 V, giving real coordination headroom for transformer-fed switchboards where fault current can hit 85 kA for 1 second (Icw). Making capacity (Icm) is 220 kA at 415 V — the breaker must close onto a bolted fault and hold; this rating says it can. Maximum breaking time is 25 ms, closing response 70 ms, which keeps arc energy low enough for downstream component protection. Electrical durability: 6000 cycles AC-3 (motor switching) at 440/690 V, 5000 cycles at 440 V per IEC 60947-2.

Integration — panel footprint and connection options
Mounting is drawout on rails or base plate. Connection pitch is 115 mm. Both front and rear connection are available for both upside and downside, giving flexibility in switchboard layout — rear connection keeps the front clean for busbar runs; front connection simplifies cable termination. IP30 protection conforming to EN 60529 — protected against tools >2.5 mm, not against water ingress. This is standard for indoor switchgear; no washdown rating. Power dissipation is 670 W at rated current — factor this into enclosure ventilation design. The breaker ships without a control unit (push-button control type); the Micrologic trip unit is ordered separately based on protection requirements.
