Part identity and fit
The LX9FH0242 is a specific contactor coil within the TeSys F range, designed as the replaceable solenoid for a TeSys F contactor frame. It is a 24 V AC coil rated for 40...400 Hz, low-consumption type, meaning it draws reduced hold-in power once the armature seats. This coil is not a standalone contactor — it is the magnetic actuator that mounts onto the contactor body. The operating time is 25 ms opening, 45 ms closing, which governs how fast the main poles break and make load current.
Coil electrical characteristics and suppression
Coil inrush power draws 560...660 VA at 68 °F (20 °C), dropping to 8...10 VA holding once the contactor is sealed. The average resistance is 0.84 Ω inrush and 18.6 Ω holding at the same temperature. Heat dissipation runs 8.4...10.4 W — that heat must be considered in a densely packed panel, particularly if the contactor cycles near its maximum rate of 3600 cycles per hour at 55 °C. This coil is supplied without a built-in suppressor module. An external RC snubber or varistor across the coil terminals is mandatory to limit back-EMF on the control circuit at dropout.
Schneider Electric has marked the LX9FH0242 as obsolete.
Mechanical durability and thermal limits
The ambient operating range is -5 to 55 °C; above that, coil temperature rise from the 8.4...10.4 W dissipation may exceed insulation class limits unless derated.
