The LX9FJ928 is a specific replacement coil for the TeSys F contactor range, designed for environments where ambient temperature stays below 70 °C. It's the part you pull when a contactor coil fails open or shorted, not the whole contactor assembly — keeps the panel rebuild to a single component swap. Control voltage is dual-rated: 155 V AC at 40-400 Hz, or 140 to 156 V DC. That covers both legacy 110 VAC control schemes stepped up through a transformer and 125 VDC battery-backed trip circuits common in utility and industrial switchgear. Opening time is 60 ms, closing time 20 ms. For a coil swap, those numbers matter for coordination with upstream breaker trip curves — the 60 ms opening means the contactor clears before a molded-case breaker's short-time delay expires on a fault.
Installation note — suppressor module required
This coil ships without a built-in suppressor module. On AC control, that means you need to add an external RC snubber or varistor across the coil terminals to prevent back-EMF from welding auxiliary contacts or glitching the PLC output driving it. On DC control, a free-wheeling diode is mandatory — polarity-sensitive, so verify before wiring. Heat dissipation runs 11.4 to 13.9 W. In a densely packed panel, that's enough to raise the internal ambient a few degrees — check the TeSys F thermal derating curve if the enclosure is already near the 55 °C operating limit.
