1.5 kW single-phase servo drive with integrated STO
The LXM18ESU15M2X is a 1.5 kW motion servo drive from the Easy Lexium 18 series, designed for single-phase 220-240 V supply. It delivers 9.5 A continuous output current at 8 kHz switching frequency, with a 3-second peak of 29.2 A for acceleration transients. The integrated Safe Torque Off (STO) function meets the safety circuit requirement without an external safety relay — the drive removes torque-producing power to the motor on the safety signal, which simplifies the wiring in guarding applications. EtherCAT is on board as the fieldbus interface, so the drive slots directly into a high-speed motion network with cycle times down to 125 µs. The integrated digital I/O handles local sensors and actuators without an extra slice.
Current delivery and supply constraints
The continuous output current is 9.5 A at 8 kHz switching frequency, and the line draw at full load is 15.8 A (144.77 % of the nominal) from the single-phase 220-240 V supply. The supply voltage limits are 170-255 V single phase, with a frequency tolerance of 47.5-63 Hz. The 3-second peak output current of 29.2 A covers the inrush for accelerating a load — the drive can deliver roughly 3× the continuous rating for short bursts, which is typical for servo applications that need high torque at low speed during ramp-up. This unit ships without an EMC filter. In a CE-marked installation, an external line filter is needed to meet conducted emission limits — factor that into the panel layout and BOM.
Panel fit and environmental limits
The compact housing measures 78 mm wide by 155.5 mm high by 166.5 mm deep — a standard footprint that fits alongside other Easy Lexium 18 drives on a DIN rail or backplate. The IP20 rating means it is protected against solid objects larger than 12 mm but not against moisture; install it inside a sealed enclosure in wet environments. Ambient operating temperature range is -5 to 45 °C, with altitude derating starting above 1000 m. The switching frequency is fixed at 8 kHz — no user adjustment for carrier frequency, so the motor whine and drive losses are set at the factory.
