Power delivery and current capability at 8 kHz
The LXM18MESU20N4X: Rated 2.0 kW at 380...440 V with an 8 kHz switching frequency. The continuous output current is 8.4 A at that same 8 kHz; for short overloads the drive delivers 20 A for 3 seconds — enough to handle the acceleration peak of a servo motor without tripping. The 8 kHz switching frequency is the default. Running at higher carrier frequencies will reduce the continuous output current — the datasheet derating curve applies above 8 kHz. For most servo applications this is the sweet spot between motor audible noise and thermal headroom.
EtherCAT integration and panel fit
EtherCAT is integrated on the drive — no external communication module needed. The drive appears as a standard EtherCAT slave on the network; cycle times down to 31.25 µs are supported, matching the typical motion bus performance for multi-axis interpolation.
Supply and line current — sizing the feeder
Three-phase input, 380...440 V AC nominal, with supply voltage limits of 342...484 V. Line current draw is 5.6 A at rated load — size the upstream protection and wiring for this continuous draw plus the inrush of the DC bus capacitors. The drive ships without an internal EMC filter. For CE-marked installations with conducted emissions limits, an external filter is required on the input side. The filter selection depends on the cable length and the installation environment — a standard Schaffner or TDK filter for the 5.6 A line current is typical.
