DC-rated miniature circuit breaker for distribution panels
The Schneider Electric MGN61842 is a Multi9 C60H-DC miniature circuit breaker rated 2 A with a C-curve trip characteristic, designed specifically for DC networks. It occupies 4 x 9 mm pitches (36 mm wide) on a DIN rail, making it a standard 2-module width part for distribution boards. The 20 kA breaking capacity at 220 V DC (Icu per EN/IEC 60947-2) means it can safely interrupt high fault currents on a 220 V DC bus without upstream cascading — critical for DC distribution in telecom, solar combiner boxes, or battery banks.
The 2 A rated current (In) at 50 °C is the continuous load the breaker carries without tripping — sized for a 2 A DC load branch, not a motor circuit. The C-curve magnetic trip fires at 8.5 x In ±20% (roughly 17 A DC), so it handles moderate inrush from capacitive or small inductive loads without nuisance trips. Thermal-magnetic trip technology means the bimetal handles overloads (time-delayed), while the solenoid handles short-circuits (instantaneous). The 2-pole construction switches both the positive and negative legs in a DC system, which is required for isolation — the breaker carries an isolation suitability mark per EN/IEC 60947-2.
The tunnel-type terminals accept up to 25 mm² rigid stranded (AWG 4) or 16 mm² flexible, with a 14 mm strip length. Tightening torque is 2.5 N.m top or bottom. The grey colour and ON/OFF indicator (green/red) are standard for the Multi9 family.
