Motor specs that decide the fit
The SH30401P07F2100 is a 40 mm flange-size servo motor from the SH3 family, rated 170 W continuous power with natural convection cooling — no external fan needed, which simplifies panel layout and reduces noise in clean-room or lab environments. Nominal speed depends on the supply: 4000 rpm on single-phase 115 V or 230 V, and 9000 rpm on three-phase 400 V or 480 V. That means the same motor covers both low-speed positioning and high-speed spindle work, but the drive must match the voltage to hit the target rpm. Torque output also shifts with voltage — 0.176 N.m nominal on single-phase, 0.184 N.m on three-phase. Continuous stall torque is 0.21 N.m across the three-phase range, with a peak stall torque of 0.75 N.m at 480 V for short-duration acceleration or overload events.
Brake and encoder — what they mean on the line
The holding brake is built in, rated 0.4 N.m holding torque. That holds the load on a vertical axis or conveyor stop without power to the motor — essential for safety in a Z-axis or palletizer application where a coasting load would drop. Encoder is an absolute multiturn SinCos Hiperface type with 16 periods per revolution speed feedback resolution. Absolute multiturn means the drive knows the shaft position on power-up without a homing cycle — saves time on multi-axis machines after a power loss.
Mounting and environmental sealing
Mounts on an international standard flange with 40 mm square pattern, four 4.5 mm holes, and a 30 mm centring collar with 2.5 mm depth. The smooth 8 mm shaft extends 25 mm — no keyway, so the coupling or pulley must be clamped or use a set-screw hub. IP65 rating on both the motor body and the shaft bushing per IEC 60034-5 — sealed against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets. Electrical connection is a rotatable right-angle connector — lets the cable exit in the direction that fits the cable tray or drag chain without adding a separate right-angle adapter.
