What it is and what it does
The TM310M45ECT26T: It reads incremental encoders and a master encoder directly, and communicates over dual gigabit Ethernet ports, EtherCAT, CANopen master, Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA, and RS232/485. Built-in 2 GB program RAM and 16 GB flash for data logging or recipe storage – the real-time clock holds the time for 6 years at 25 °C. All this draws 20 W from a 24 V DC supply.
Mounting and environment
The controller measures 210 x 114 x 70 mm and mounts on TH35-15 DIN rail or panel. Vibration resistance: 1 gn above 8.4 Hz on DIN rail, shock 15 gn for 11 ms; humidity 5–95% non-condensing, pollution degree 2.
I/O and field wiring
Inputs are sink or source (24 V DC, 5.2 mA per fast input), compliant with IEC 61131-2 Type 1. Outputs are source transistor, short-circuit and automatic overload protected, with reverse polarity protection on the supply. Insulation between fast input and internal logic is 550 V AC; between fast output and logic is 500 V AC; but inputs are non-insulated from each other. Surge withstand 0.5 kV common and differential mode on the DC power lines per IEC 61000-4-5. The removable terminal block arrangement keeps the encoder and serial connections separate from the main I/O – helps section the wiring.
Lifecycle and sourcing note
This part is actively produced – no end-of-life notice in the record. It's a standard catalog item (Modicon M310 range), so you can spec it into a BOM without worrying about a last-time buy. If you need to source it, quote against an RFQ for the best lead time.
