What This Switch Is Built For
The Square D XCKL102 is a general duty compact limit switch — the kind you'd find on a conveyor transfer, a machine guard door, or a packaging line where the environment gets wet or dusty. It carries a NEMA 1/2/4/6/6P/12/13 rating and IP66, meaning it's sealed against hose-down and temporary submersion (NEMA 6P). That's a switch you can mount on a washdown station or an outdoor transfer deck without worrying about the contacts corroding.
Contact rating is 240 VAC at 3 Ampere, and 250 VDC at 0.27 Ampere. That's a modest current — fine for pilot duty on a PLC input or a contactor coil, but not for switching a motor directly. The SPDT (1NO-1NC) configuration gives you both a normally-open and normally-closed set in one body, so you can wire a safety circuit NC loop and a status signal NO in the same switch without an extra block. Connection is through a 1/2-inch NPT conduit hub — standard for North American panels. No pigtail, no micro connector; you land your own 14-18 AWG inside the switch body.
The XCKL102 carries UL and CSA approval, so it's accepted across North America without a special evaluation. It also complies with EN/IEC 60204-1 (safety of machinery) and EN/IEC 60947-5-1 (control circuit devices), which covers the European machinery directive requirements for a limit switch. That makes it a drop-in for export machinery or a line built to global standards.
