Relay outputs at 2 A in an Ex-rated module
The 6ES7132-7HB00-0AB0 is a SIMATIC DP electronic module for the ET200iSP remote I/O system, carrying two relay outputs rated 2 A per channel at up to 60 V UC (UC60V / 2A). The relay type means the output is galvanically isolated from the backplane bus — useful when switching different voltage potentials on adjacent channels without commoning the returns. This module carries Ex certification eb ib mb IIC T4 Gb (gas) and eb ib mb I Mb (mining).
Switching speeds and diagnostic coverage
The relay switches from 0 to 1 in 8 ms max and from 1 to 0 in 3 ms max — fast enough for valve and contactor control in batch processes, but not for high-speed counting or pulse trains. Maximum switching frequency is 0.5 Hz with resistive load and 0.2 Hz with inductive load; above that the relay contacts risk weld or reduced life. A diagnostic alarm is generated on channel faults (wire-break or short-circuit cannot be detected in the contact power circuit, per the spec — the relay simply reports whether the coil is energised). The module also supports substitute values and readable diagnostic information, which helps the PLC logic decide what to do when a channel faults.
Power consumption is 1.1 W typ, drawing 100 mA from the backplane bus plus up to 120 mA from the load voltage L+ (without load). The thermal continuous current matches the rated 2 A per channel, derated per the manual above 60 °C ambient.
