Rated continuous current and breaking capacity — what they mean for fit
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA1010-4ED32-0AE0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 100 A continuous current at 40 °C ambient, with the TM210 thermal-magnetic release. The thermal derating curve is published: the breaker holds 100 A from 40 °C through 50 °C, then steps down to 96 A at 55 °C, 94 A at 60 °C, 92 A at 65 °C, and 90 A at 70 °C. For a panel running at 60 °C ambient — common in sealed enclosures with multiple heat sources — the effective continuous current is 94 A, not the nameplate 100 A. That 6 A difference matters when sizing for a continuous load near the limit.
Integration and mounting
The breaker measures 70 mm deep, 76.2 mm wide, and 130 mm high. The 76.2 mm width (3-inch footprint) is standard for 3-pole MCCBs in this class; it fits existing panel cutouts and busbar centers without adapter plates. Front-face protection is IP40, suitable for general-purpose indoor panels where tools are required to access live parts. No undervoltage release, no shunt trip, and no communication module are fitted on this variant — the auxiliary contact block is the only add-on.
