The Modicon M310 TM310MM35ECT16U is a compact EtherCAT slave PLC with 16 integrated discrete I/O — eight of them configurable as fast inputs at 200 kHz for HSC or encoder feedback. Cycle time sits at 1 ms on a full EtherCAT scan, which keeps it in the loop for mid-speed machine control.
Memory splits into 16 MB RAM for user application and runtime data, plus 512 KB flash for non-volatile storage — enough for a moderate machine sequence and a couple hundred tags. Battery-backed RTC (CR2032, 5-year life) holds timestamping across power loss; backup time is 2 years at 25 °C if the supply drops. The eight transistor outputs are source-only at 24 VDC, with a max voltage drop under 1 V. Fast outputs (Q0..Q7) switch off in ≤1 µs — suited for pulse trains or direct valve control. Each output has short-circuit and overload protection with automatic reset, reducing the need for external fuses. Inputs accept both sink and source wiring (PNP/NPN, IEC 61131-2 type 3) and draw 3 mA per channel on high-speed lines. Surge immunity reaches 1 kV common mode on power lines and shielded cable, per EN/IEC 61000-4-5, so it holds up in panel environments with switching contactors or drives nearby.

Mounts on a standard TH35-15 DIN rail per IEC 60715. Dimensions are 85 mm deep, 60 mm wide, 100 mm tall — leaves room on the rail for an EtherCAT coupler and an extra I/O slice. Vibration withstand is 3.5 mm at 5–8.4 Hz and 1 gn at 8.4–150 Hz on the rail; shock rated at 15 g for 11 ms.
